It focuses on areas such as teacher development, curriculum improvement, language education, technical and vocational education, and educational innovation. SEAMEO also hosts regional conferences, workshops, and seminars to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences among educators and policymakers in the region. Overall, SEAMEO plays a vital role in promoting educational development and cooperation in Southeast Asia, contributing to the region's socio-economic progress and cultural exchange.

"Leading through Learning"

The motto reflects SEAMEO's commitment to fostering cooperation and collaboration among its member countries to improve education standards and promote regional understanding. It underscores the belief that by working collectively, Southeast Asian nations can enhance the quality of education in the region, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development and well-being of their populations. Overall, the motto serves as a guiding principle that encapsulates SEAMEO's mission and vision for the advancement of education and human resource development in Southeast Asia.

Under the SEA Teacher Project, student teachers from universities in participating Southeast Asian nations have the opportunity to teach in schools in other member countries for a period ranging from one to two months. This exchange program not only allows student teachers to gain practical teaching experience but also fosters a greater understanding of the diverse educational systems and cultures within the region. It encourages the sharing of teaching methodologies, best practices, and pedagogical innovations among the participating countries, ultimately contributing to the improvement of the quality of education in Southeast Asia and promoting regional unity and cooperation in the field of education.
